Orders for the Wi-Fi smart plug can be made right now for delivery on December 31. It is compatible with Apple Home, Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and SmartThings, according to Meross, because it will function with Matter out of the box. It’s also one of the earliest devices with the Matter logo we’ve seen.

Despite Matter’s official introduction, it is still not possible to purchase a product that works with the new smart home standard. Meross, a manufacturer of smart home products, today unveiled its first Matter-enabled smart plug, the Matter Smart Wi-Fi Plug Mini. It is currently available for presale for delivery on December 31.
This may be the first product you may purchase that bears the Matter emblem, signifying that it is equipped with Matter right out of the box. The majority of businesses have stated that devices with Matter built-in won’t be available for purchase until next year, despite the fact that some have announced updates to current products—including Eve and Wiz, who have said they will roll out firmware upgrades to their current products this year.

The Meross Matter Smart Wi-Fi Plug Mini (MSS115) retails for $49.99 for two, but the business is giving preorders through its website a 50% discount. According to the Meross product page, a Wi-Fi smart plug that only functions with Matter will be configured using a Matter QR code and by pairing it with a Matter controller.
You will need to use the Apple Home app and a HomePod Mini or Apple TV, or a SmartThings hub and SmartThings app, to utilize the gadget until more platforms add support for Matter. At the moment, only Apple and Samsung SmartThings have support for the new standard in their apps and hubs.
According to Amazon, support for smart plugs and Matter over Wi-Fi will be added to its ecosystem this year. You may pair the plug with an Echo smart speaker once that is delivered. Additionally, Google has been one of Matter’s biggest supporters. Although the company hasn’t made any announcements about when it will support Matter, it’s probably going to happen soon.
Meross has pledged to support Matter in its upcoming goods, but it hasn’t said whether its current products will be updated. All of the major ecosystems are already compatible with its range of smart products, which includes smart plugs, switches, lights, and door controllers. Multi-admin control, or the capacity to simultaneously control your devices with Amazon’s Alexa, Google Home, Apple Home, and Samsung SmartThings, is one of the core components of Matter. With the majority of Meross devices, this is already achievable.
However, investing in Matter devices now can help you future-proof your smart home. Since Matter is an open-source standard, compatible hardware can be used on any platform that supports it, not just the major four.
