Prior to the launch of Vikram-1, which is planned for next year, Vikram-S is a single stage fuel rocket designed to test the majority of Skyroot Aerospace’s project’s systems and procedures.

At 11:30 am, the Indian startup company Skyroot Aerospace sent its first rocket into orbit. The first rocket in the Vikram series, the Vikram-S, launched from the Sriharikota launchpad of the ISRO (Indian Space Research Organization). This is India’s first privately funded rocket launch.
Prior to the launch of Vikram-1, which is planned for next year, Vikram-S is a single stage fuel rocket designed to test the majority of Skyroot Aerospace’s project’s systems and procedures. Today’s launch is also a suborbital one, which means the spacecraft will travel into space and not maintain an orbit around the Earth for more than five minutes.
