Rocky start to Assembly session: Opposition, Govt clash over cess, CM security | Thiruvananthapuram

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Assembly got off to a rocky start on Monday with Opposition and the Government clashing over various issues including petrol cess and heightened security for the Chief Minister.

As a mark of protest, MLAs Mathew Kuzhalnadan and Shafi Parambil reached the assembly wearing black shirts.
Some of the Opposition members also carried placards. “If the CM is scared, he should sit at home,” read one of them. The Opposition raised their protest during the question hour.

Media was not allowed to capture the session this time too, though Opposition leader V D Satheesan had submitted a letter asking allowing media persons to cover the same. Sabha TV also avoided the session.

The Opposition also brought up Kerala Government’s ‘Oru laksham samrambhaka varsham’ (One lakh enterprises this year) initiative. MLAs also discussed the series of investigative reports on the project by Manorama News titled ‘Lakshanamotha Kallam’ (The Perfect Lie). The reports revealed that the Industries Department’s claim about launching one lakh new enterprises in Kerala within a year was false.
